Why I Love Following Families Through Every Chapter

One of my favourite things about this job is getting to watch families grow, not just in size, but in love, connection, and personality.

It often starts with a maternity session (and sometimes our journey begins when I capture a couple's engagement and wedding photos too). There’s something so beautiful about that quiet anticipation, the way a mum-to-be cradles her belly, the little glances between parents that say, “We’re about to meet someone amazing.” These shoots are gentle, calm, and full of emotion. They’re a chance to slow down and soak it all in before everything changes.

Then comes the newborn session. These are tender and timeless. I love capturing those tiny details - wrinkly toes, sleepy yawns, the way a baby fits perfectly in their parent’s arms. It’s a whirlwind time, but there’s so much magic in the stillness.

And just when I think my heart couldn’t be fuller… that same baby shows up at a Pop-in session, all cheeky smiles and wobbly steps. Suddenly they’re giggling, showing off their favourite toy, or giving me their best dinosaur roar. It’s wild and wonderful and honestly, such a joy to photograph.

Getting to follow a family from bump to baby to big kid is the biggest honour.

It’s not just about taking photos—it’s about building trust, sharing milestones, and creating a little visual legacy together. I love that I get to be there for all of it.
